Depression is one such emotion that sends people into a dark room of thoughts. A person in depression feels bad about themselves which just feeds their depression further until the cause of depression is overcome. The primary reason of depression is that people thinks depression is not a big issue it is just normal sadness. 

    What exactly is the difference between depression and sadness ?

    Well a passing blue mood is something just like it says it comes and it goes you might have it for one, two or three days, but then it goes away on its own and it’s not really a big deal whereas depression can last a week, three weeks, a month and a year well and it creates a lot more havoc.

    How common is depression?

    Depression is called a common cold of mental illness, not because it’s symptoms are mild because it’s so prevalent it varies in terms of what people think, but usually about one out of every six Americans severs from depression

    World Health Organization says that depression will become the biggest cause of disability surpassing heart disease the number one cause of disability by the year 2020 so it’s quite prevalent and everybody goes through it, just in different variations and gradations there are many symptoms of depression it’s different for everyone

    While some people experience only a few symptoms, others experience many symptoms

    Depression symptoms are more psychological and behavioral than physical. The most common depression symptoms are

    Sadness

    Sadness is the central feature of depression. The (though not all) most people with depression feel sadness. Although it is a totally normal and adaptive emotion (all are sad from time to time), but if sadness last for more than 2 weeks then it can be depression

    Irritability

    Irritability is commonly experienced by the person suffering from the depression. The rapid mood swing during the depression aids in the irritability. This obstructs individual from socialization and leads to the isolation which in turn increases the loneliness

    Loss of energy

    You feel physically drained, sluggish, and fatigued. Your body sometimes feels heavy and performing even small tasks becomes exhausting or takes longer to complete.

    Feeling hopeless

    ​If the person feels like there’s no hope or there’s “no light at the end of the tunnel” or there’s simply no way out of a situation, it will make the person possess a negative state of mind or become moody.

    Unexplained pains and aches

    People often think that depression cannot result in pain, but they are wrong about this. Unexplained aches and pains are often associated with other related conditions such as constipation or diarrhea, caused by depression-linked disorders. You may experience increased physical complications such as stomach pains, aching muscles, back pains and headaches.

    Anhedonia

    The third sign of depression that you should be aware of is something called anhedonia.

    This is the loss of interest in things that you previously used to enjoy so, for example, you might be into gardening and all of the sudden you find that no matter how many times you garden or if you try to garden there’s just not the same joy that you’re getting out of it that you used to or maybe you used to be social and enjoy spending time with your friends and you find that you just can’t bring yourself to get out of the house and to go and interact with these friends and it’s difficult to deal with because it’s very hard to motivate yourself when the things that used to be what got you out of bed and got you ready for the day no longer hold the same enjoyment and pleasure that they used to

    Decreased concentration/or indecision

    If you are having difficulty thinking or concentrating for no reason, then that could be a sign that you’re depress. Not being able to focus in something don’t necessarily mean that a person is depressed or has a mental disorder, but if such things occur on a regular basis and it’s not something that is being experienced before that could be another factor for being diagnose with depression.

    Changes in sleeping habits

    If person sleeping habits changes either sleeping less or more than earlier could be a symptom of depression. You’re looking for a change that is quite different from a previous state. For example, if you usually tend to have a good sleep at night but then you can no longer sleep well at night or if you only sleep for a regular 8 hours but now you want to sleep longer than that and you maintain that kind of sleeping pattern for a long time that’s a symptom.

    Significant changes in appetite or weight

    Loss of the appetite is the short-term side effect of the depression. Due to the loss of the appetite, one can become prone to the malnutrition due to insufficient diet. Malnutrition can cause several noisome due to the adverse effect. Although the loss of the appetite is not experienced by the majority of the person suffering from the depression.

    Sense of worthlessness

    Sense of worthlessness and it is really very difficult for people to handle it’s a sense that no matter what a person has achieved in their life but still person feel sad and worthless

    Depression also increases the blood pressure This is due to the lack of the dopamine this condition is called hypertension

    How to deal with depression

    If you think that you or your any family member is struggling with depression go and consultant with licensed mental health professional for an evaluation as soon as possible there are many treatment options are available such as antidepressant, CBT, Counseling any many more treatment options are available which can feel patient to feel better and so I strongly encourage you to consultant licensed mental health professional as soon as possible

    I think everybody knows when they start to have trouble with kind of day-to-day activities and the functioning however because of the stigma of mental illness people who develop depression or any other mental illness. they wait too long or they will try to look out for help but are unable to say I am suffering from depression or I have started to think about suicide too much

    There’s still a lot of negative thinking and myths about the mental illness and psychiatry even sometimes within the Medical Society

    I would say start to look for help as soon as possible because sooner you start to treat the illness better response to the treatment you are going to have an earlier so don’t wait till you symptoms get worse and harder to treat

    when you are unable to function throughout the day as earlier. if you are thinking too much about doing suicide. that’s the time when a person should consultant mental health professional without waiting anymore.

    1. im a thirteen year old girl who has all these
      symptoms but every single time l try tell
      somebody they always assume that I think
      im depressed because in crying majority
      on the time but I try tell them that when
      my pop died I lost a piece of me and i feel
      helpless

      1. feel lots of sadness because of guilt
      2.1 feel hopeless to get better
      3. I started a dream career and now I'm not
      able to do anything
      4.I have difficulties with making decisions
      not only in life but in my mind about myself
      5. I can't sleep without crying
      6.I had started fitness journey but now I'm
      eating again alot
      7.I feel worthless because I cant even
      keep happy the most important person in
